“An excellent developer can fail a technical test. Does that shock you? Yet it's reality.”

Cloud & DevOps technical assessment
See them work
before you hire them.
Your candidates fix a real cloud incident, AI allowed. You get the replay, automatic checks and a report anyone can read.

Cloud hiring has changed
The job has changed. Technical tests haven't.
Off-the-ground quizzes for your candidates, hours of grading for your engineers.
1 / 3 · The mission
A real incident, on your stack.
AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform… The candidate gets a link and a real environment: nothing to install.
2 / 3 · The work
Like at the office, AI included.
Everything is recorded and every AI exchange stays visible. At the end, automatic checks test the real environment.
3 / 3 · The decision
All your candidates, on the same evidence.
Each report becomes a point: the score, and the share earned unaided. You move the best ones on to the live interview.
Two modes
Assess at scale. Hire as a team.
Send the mission to as many candidates as you need. Each one takes it alone, whenever they want, AI included: you get one report per candidate.
- One link per candidate, nothing to install
- 15 min to 1 h 45, at their own pace
- All compared on the same evidence
Your team joins the candidate on video while they solve the mission: they watch, talk and log what they see, then each gives a verdict.
- The candidate books a slot in your availability
- The lead engineer hosts the session
- Observations per competency, a 4-level verdict

Who it's for
Your whole team reads the same report. Your clients too.
The tech lead replays the session, the client gives their opinion. No extra meeting.
- 01
The replay, minute by minute.
- The session replayed as if you were there.
- Every exchange with the AI, classified and timed.
- The automatic checks, one by one.
- 02
A secure link, not an annotated CV.
- The report shared read-only, with an expiry date.
- Access verified by code.
- The client gives their advice: worth meeting, no opinion, not convinced.
- IT services and consultingProve to your clients what your consultants can do.
- Scale-ups and software companiesYour engineers only meet the finalists.
- Recruitment agenciesPresent candidates already assessed, with the proof.
On LinkedIn
Technical tests: even candidates have had enough.
What the people who take them, and the people who hire, say about them.
“Recently I took an online technical test where I wasn't allowed to use the internet. I didn't do it. I followed the rules.”
“Technical tests kill developers at every interview. I was one of them.”
“What they almost never ask you in technical interviews: what you do when the PO changes their mind 3 days before delivery.”
There's a simpler way: watch them work.

Cloud & DevOps technical tests: your questions.

Ask a question01Can candidates use AI, like ChatGPT, during the technical test?
Yes, just like at work. Rather than banning ChatGPT, every mission includes an AI assistant. Each exchange is classified into one of four kinds, and the report shows the points the candidate earned unaided. Asking the AI never costs points: it becomes visible.
02What does a DevOps or cloud technical test look like on CodeReaal?
The candidate gets a link and fixes a real incident on a cloud environment provided by CodeReaal, from their browser: no quiz, nothing to install. A mission takes 15 minutes to 1 h 45. At the end, automatic checks test the environment itself, and you get the recorded session and a report. The candidate is notified by email as soon as you decide.
03How is it different from HackerRank, CodinGame or a take-home assignment?
Algorithm platforms score code in an editor, and a take-home comes back without showing how it was done. On CodeReaal the candidate works on real cloud infrastructure, the result is checked on that infrastructure, and you replay how they got there, AI exchanges included.
04How do I know the candidate did the work themselves?
The whole session is recorded: you replay their screen minute by minute, with every AI exchange. The checks verify the result on the environment itself, not on a statement.
05Can a recruiter read the report without being technical?
Yes. The report opens with one plain sentence: what the candidate achieved, and what's missing. The technical detail stays below for your tech lead.
Sarah recovers every lost order. 9 of 14 checks, with 64 points earned unaided.
06Which technologies and roles can you assess?
DevOps, SRE, cloud and platform engineers. Today, missions run on AWS: Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, S3, IAM… Missions on Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Azure, Google Cloud, Ansible and Linux are being finalised for the beta.
07What happens to candidate data?
Your notes and advice stay internal: the candidate never sees them. A report is shared through a code-protected link, with an expiry date, revocable at any time. The video is deleted automatically at the end of its retention period.
08How much does it cost, and how do I join the beta?
During the private beta, the offer fits your hiring volume: there is no public price. See it in action in 30 minutes: we talk about your hiring, show you a real mission and a real report, then open your workspace. Prefer to write? We send you a proposal within one business day.
